Happy Campers Picture of The Week – Tower of Lights

Guruvayoor

This is a picture of an old man lighting a tower of oil lamps at one of the entrances to Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple in Guruvayoor.

Located in the Thrissur District of Kerala India, the town of Guruvayoor is the most important centre of pilgrimage of South India.

According to the legend, the deity worshiped in the temple is over 5000 years old. Though there are no records to confirm it, this Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple is said to be the fourth biggest temple in India in terms of numbers of devotees per day.
