It was truly a deafening weekend as Kuala Lumpur played host to its first ever street race dubbed the KL City Grand Prix. With a crowd of more than 200,000 people throughout the 3 day event, it is very likely that this could be a start of an annual attraction to the city.
The race which runs over 3.2 kilometers long showcases an exciting and unique street circuit passing by Malaysia’s iconic city landmarks. Barriers and triple-high guard rails could be seen along five major roads in the heart of the city.
The atmosphere at KL City GP was absolutely exciting and festive. Locals and tourists alike were excited to experience and witness up close and personal to the street race. Booths were set up at designated area selling t shirts and other memorabilia.
Despite some complaints from citizens expressing their unhappiness towards the hassle and difficulties imposed to them due to the road closure and crazy traffic jams over the weekend, all in all we feel that the event was a success and we look forward to KL City Grand Prix next year!
