Hwaseong Fortress


Throughout history, city walls were made to protect a city, town or other settlement from the enemy. They are usually massive structures, punctuated with guard towers. Hwaseong Fortress is such a wall made to protect the old city of Suwon in South Korea. It was designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in December 1997. It is also famous for being the final resting place for the Crown Prince Sado
