We had the opportunity of attending the official launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2014 held yesterday at Malaysia’s Merdeka Square and it was a blast!
For the benefit of those who don’t know, Merdeka Square is a Malaysian historical site as this is where the Malaysian Flag was raised for the first time replacing the Union Jack Flag, thus signifying the end of the British colonization in Malaysia.
Overlooking the Merdeka Square is one of the oldest and significant landmarks in Kuala Lumpur, which is The Sultan Abdul Samad Building.
The stage is set and the crowd started to gather as early as 6pm to secure a good spot for the much-anticipated show.
Famous for our tropical weather, it started to drizzle as the event was about to begin. However, it was a pretty amazing seeing the crowd staying put determined not to leave their secured spot (us included – maybe we Malaysians know our weather well)
True enough, the light shower lasted for about 20 minutes and stopped just in time for the grand launch which is filled with fireworks, 3D building wall mapping, performances and more fireworks.
It is safe to say that Visit Malaysia 2014 started with a BANG!
